Hello fellow travelers:
Thanks to those of you who participated in the August 14 working dinner at the Minneapolis Club. If you were unable to attend, please watch your mail for the Scandinavian trip "briefing book" binders that were distributed at the meeting. Below you will find several items from the meeting:
- Powerpoint presentation from Lee Frelich (Download frelichaug_14_climate_change.ppt)
- Powerpoint presentation from Jean Coleman on the LCCMR Statewide Conservation Plan: (Download colemanaug_14_lccmr_statewide_conservation_plan.ppt )
- Participant responses to the climate change presentation
The dinner presentation and discussion begin to suggest how climate change could interface with our tours project. While there’s no consensus among participants, climate change could significantly impact productivity, economic value, biodiversity and the prevailing species in Minnesota's forests. The evening raised important questions, such as "how is climate change perceived in Scandinavia?" and "what steps are the Finns and Swedes taking to respond?" As we enter the final stage of Scandinavia tour planning, Foundation staff will attempt to create opportunities to explore such questions further.
